Anambra Poll: IGP Deploys DIG, AIGs, CPs

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba has ordered the immediate deployment of senior police officers in efforts to Anambra State in efforts to reshuffle the security architecture ahead of the governorship election scheduled for November 6, 2021. Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Frank Mba made this known in a statement titled "Anambra election: IGP overhauls security landscape ahead of poll." in Abuja, saying the redeployment was to ensure peace during the governorship election.

Abuja-Kaduna Rail Services Resume October 23 – FG

The Federal Government has announced the resumption of the Abuja-Kaduna rail services (AKTS), following the completion of repairs on the track after the suspected terrorist attack on the tracks. The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi made the announcement while inspecting the facility between Rijana and Dutse route on Friday, saying the train services will resume on Saturday, October 23, 2021, adding that the Department of States Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Army have commenced efforts towards apprehending the perpetrators.

You Can’t Enslave Ndigbo For One Week Without Backlash – Ohanaeze Warns IPOB

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has kicked against the 7 days sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which is planned to commence from November 5, 2021. The Igbo group stressed that the execution of such irrational order will hurt all Igbos. The Igbo Apex socio-cultural group in a statement by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said Ndigbo should not obey the order this time. He said, “Ohanaeze Ndigbo has deciphered that any declaration that unleashes untold hardship, leads to the collapse of commercial and industrial activities, boycott of Anambra elections, and interrupts the academic calendar in the Southeastern states is nonsensical, absurd, and anti-Igbo agenda, for the enemy’s amusement. “You can’t enslave Ndigbo for one-week without backlash from them, it’s time for Igbo to rise to the occasion and end being trampled with orders from overseas by those without any investments in the South-East. Isiguzoro said IPOB should discern that there was self-determination struggle in Africa before now. Anambra Guber: President Buhari Charges Service Chiefs To Ensure Hitch-free Election

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered service chiefs to ensure that the Anambra governorship election slated for November 6 is conducted hitch-free. The National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno, while briefing journalists on Thursday about the outcome of the security meeting the service chiefs had with Buhari at the presidential villa, said the president gave the order in response to the heightened security challenges in Anambra. Monguno said, “The President has directed that under no circumstances will anything be allowed to stop the elections from taking place successfully. The people have a right to vote and select their leader. “No group or individual will be allowed to stimulate anarchy and chaos, leading to murderous activities.
“The President has made it very clear that the Armed Forces and all law enforcement agencies must make sure that the elections take place even if it means overwhelming the entire environment with the presence of security agencies. “There are so many implications for elections to be sabotaged by non-state actors; in the first place, we are in a democracy, secondly it is important to note that if these non-state actors should succeed in destroying the potentials for orderly elections, then it is natural that other parts of the country would also want to copy this same situation.”
