Ikoyi Building Collapse: Gov. Sanwo-Olu Declares Three-Days Mourning

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has on Thursday declared three days of mourning over the Ikoyi building collapse on Monday, leaving over 35 persons dead. The Commisioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso disclosed this in a statement, noting that all flags in public and private buildings would be flown half mast during the period.

The separatist group has earlier declared a sit-at-home in effort to discourage residents of Anambra from exercising their franchise in the November 6 governorship election in the State.

A 21-Storey building located on Gerard Road, upmarket Ikoyi in Lagos has collapsed on Monday. Residents of the area have gathered around the building to assist in any way they can. The collapsed structure is said to be a building still under construction.
