Education: NUC Approves License For 20 New Private Universities

The National University Commission (NUC) has today issued provisional licenses to 20 newly approved private universities in Nigeria. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu while presenting the license to the beneficiaries at the NUC headquarters in Abuja said, with this approval, the number of private universities in Nigeria is now 99 out of the total 197 available.

JAMB Raises Alarm Over Use Of Logo By Fraudulent Exam Centers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has decried the fraudulent activities of cybercafés and tutorial center operators who specialise in deceiving candidates, using the board’s insignia and name. The exam board in a statement by its Head of Public Affairs, Dr. Fabian Benjamin said criminal elements dupe students under the guise of registering them for the 2021/22 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) application. ”It is a criminal offence for one to use the exam bodys’ name and logo when one is not licensed by the Board to do so for any reason,” Dr. Fabian warned.
