A total of thirty four suspected corrupt officials and businessmen have been arrested by Ethiopian authorities to allow for further investigation and possible prosecution. According to government affiliated Fana Broadcasting Corporate reports, the suspects were officials of the country's Ministry of Finance, road authorities and Ethiopian Sugar Corporation.
Another tabloid, Negeri Lencho, the country's minister of Communication who gave details of the arrest stated that the move was part of efforts by the government to rid the country of corrupt politicians. He added that in the coming days, more arrest will be made
