Just in: Tinubu Seeks Senate Approval to Invade Niger Republic

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has today writes to the National Assembly seeking for their approval to deploy Military to Niger Republic against the coupists who toppled president Bazoum government. Tinubu stated this in an official communication sent to the lawmakers at the plenary and was read to the Senate by the Senate Present.

Niger Coup: We Are Yet To Receive Order For Military Operation In Niger – DHQ

Following the military action threat by the ECOWAS against the military junta in Niger, the top echelon of the Nigerian military says it has not receive any order to commence military operation in Niger Republic. This followed the rumour that the military has commenced assembling its equipment and troops for the Niger operation. The Economic Community of West African states, ECOWAS had during their meeting in Abuja on Sunday issued a one week ultimatum to the military junta leader in Niger Republic to restore ousted president Bazoum back to power of face military action.

Niger Coup: Burkina-Faso, Mali Junta leaders Warn ECOWAS Against Military Action

Junta-led Burkina Faso and Mali counterpart has yesterday Monday warned ECOWAS that any military intervention in Niger to restore deposed President Mohamed Bazoum would be considered a “declaration of war against their two countries. The warning from Niger’s military-ruled neighbours is coming amidst ECOWAS mulling a military action threat from the West African leaders, supported by their Western partners, to use “force” to reinstate the ousted president Bazoum back to power and slam financial sanctions on the putsches.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday dispatched a delegation to the Republic of Niger with a mandate to resolve the current political impasse occasioned by the recent coup in the country. The decision was announced by the ECOWAS authority of the head of state and government during an urgent meeting in Abuja following the increasing tension stirred by the military actors who are attempting to take over Niger.
