President Tinubu Travels To UAE For Bilateral Talks

After attending the G-20 Summit in India, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday night for bilateral talks with Emirati authorities which was made known in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale.

Deadly Earthquake Kills Over 800 People In Morocco

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake has hit Morocco killing at least 820 people, injuring over 670, damaging ancient buildings, and sending terrified residents fleeing their homes into the streets seeking for safety. The earthquake is the strongest to hit central Morocco in more than a century has left more than 800 people dead, with most of those killed in hard to reach mountainous areas.

Ousted Gabon President Ali Bongo Released From House Arrest

Ali Bongo, the deposed President of Gabon has been released from house arrest by the military junta led by General Brice Oligui Nguema. The new military leaders in the Central African nation said Bongo is free to leave the country to seek medical attention after spending eight days in detention.

Niger Coup: Biden Hails Tinubu For Timely Intervention

The United States President, Joe Biden has commended Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention to preserve democracy and rule of law in Niger Republic after the junta took power. Military Junta led by, Amadou Abdramane, had on July 26^th, 2023 toppled the democratically-elected President Mohamed Bazoum. Shortly, the military leadership suspended the constitution of Niger Republic and other critical institutions in the country through shutting down all its borders.

Niger Coup: US Begins First Major Military Repositioning 

The United States of America has commenced a major military movement in Niger Republic. The Headquarters, United States Department of Defence (Pentagon), is now repositioning some troops and equipment within Niger. The US will also withdraw a small number of non-essential personnel “out of an abundance of caution.” This is the first major military movement since the coup in July. 

US Embassy Raises Alarm Over Uganda Terror Attacks 

The US embassy in Uganda has advised US citizens to stay alert and avoid large public gatherings as there remains a threat of terrorist attacks in the country and throughout the region. This is coming a day after Ugandan police thwarted a suicide bombing attack in Kampala. Ugandan police on Monday evacuated a business centre in the capital, Kampala, on suspicions that there was an explosive inside. The spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police, Patrick Onyango, said that the police arrested a 28-year-old suspected suicide bomber before he entered Rubaga Miracle Centre, a church operated by the prominent Ugandan preacher Pastor Robert Kayanja, in the Lubaga suburb of south Kampala.
