The Ebonyi state government says it has it has budgeted N16 billion to farmers to access this fiscal year including civil servants and other interesting individuals.The State Governor, David Umahi who stated this when he met with chairmen of 13 council areas, 64 coordinators of development centres, liaison officers and committee members of development centres including senior technical assistants,

in Abakaliki, the state capital said the fund which were split into N8b marked for other investment would also be accessed through loan.


The Governor explained that the funds were sourced from Bank of Industry (BOI) and Centre Bank of Nigeria (CBN). He listed the areas of concentration to include poultry, rice farming and cassava production.


He stressed that modern cassava processing plants would be establish in three senatorial zones of the state, thereafter to 13 local government areas of the state.


"We intend to have one cassava processing plants in each senatorial zone of the state and as soon as we are through with that we will stepdown to each local government areas which will come in phase 2 of the programme.


"So we are looking for those who are supposed to say either as a person or group to say l want to manage this cassava plant.


"And as you are working you will pay back to government and we will put mechanism down to make sure that it is not abuse.
