The Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has said contrary to media insinuations, his comment on how to get rid of godfatherism in Lagos was not an attack on the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu.
He disclosed that since he made the statement, so many politicians had met him secretly, requesting that Tinubu be dealt with.
The Governor who spoke on Friday when he received 121 members-elect of the House of Representatives who were on consultation tour of Northwest at the Government House chamber in Kaduna said.
“That was not an attack on Asiwaju, it was a generic statement, but the whole thing took a media frenzy because to some people Asiwaju is a meal ticket.
“Let me tell you, because of that, some people started confessing to me that Asiwaju should be dealt with.
“They said ‘Asiwaju wants to finish you, he has been abusing you, we should finish him by finishing his man, Femi Gbajabiamila’.”
Recall that three weeks ago, Governor El-Rufai while giving a keynote address at an event in Lagos, was asked on how to eliminate godfatherism in Lagos. He explained that since Lagos had a voting strength of over six million and only one million people voted during the last election, those interested in unseating godfathers in the state must conduct a study to know why about five million electorates didn't vote. He further said they should reach out to this category of people and make them vote, stressing that the number was sufficient to retire any godfather.
Since his statement, many people believed that he was directing his statement at Tinubu.
