Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has on Monday dissolved his cabinet, sacking all the Commissioners, Senior Special Advisers, and Special Assistants in the state. The governor announced the dissolution during the State Executive Council meeting held in the Government House in Lafia, appreciating the sacrifices and efforts of the members of his cabinet for the successes recorded in the state.

Over 2M Nigerians Register Online For CVR – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it has recorded over two million new registrants on its online registration portal for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye made the disclosure on Monday in Abuja, explaining that since the launch of the programme on June 28, the online entrants have exceeded 2 million in eight weeks, adding that the entrants are dominated by youth between the ages of 18-34.

Former Imo State Governor Ohakim Defects To APC

A former Imo State Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim formally defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC). Ohakim declared his membership of the APC on Tuesday at his hometown of Okohia in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, saying his decision to join the ruling party was to offer support to Governor Hope Uzodinma in his drive to develop the State.

Ogun Governor Mourns Death Of Former NADECO Chief, Senator Biyi Durojare

Governor of Ogun state Dapo Abiodun has mourned the untimely death of fourth Republic lawmaker, Senator Biyi Durojare who died in the early hours of Tuesday in Lagos. Durojaiye, 88, who was once the Chairman, Board of Commissioners for Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), died while receiving medical treatment after suffering COVID-19 related complications. In a statement on Tuesday by governor Abiodun’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, the governor expressed shock over the untimely passage of the Ijebu-Igbo politician. “He was with us during the Stakeholders meeting for the Ward Congress last month and was a strong pillar of our administration,” the governor was quoted as saying. Abiodun described Sen. Durojaiye’s death as an immense loss to the progressives, the political ideology he identified with and represented while alive. Abiodun said Durojaiye was an elder statesman and formidable economist, lawyer, and banker, who was elected member of the 1988/1989 Constituent Assembly.

2023: Don’t Vote APC, PDP, Jega Cautions Nigerians

Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega has cautioned Nigerians against voting for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 general elections. The former INEC boss said this during an interview with BBC Hausa in Kaduna State, saying the two major political parties have bad antecedents and have failed Nigerians over the last 20 years, adding that both parties are synonymous with corruption.

PDP Governors To Meet Today In Bauchi

Governors under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to meet on Monday in Bauchi to deliberate on the current state of the nation, Director General of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Cyril Maduabum said. Maduabum made the disclosure in a statement, saying the Governors will also examine situations of their respective states ranging from “issues of unemployment, the generally parlous state of the Nigerian economy, the health of Nigeria’s democracy including the Electoral Act Amendment, Constitution Alteration Bills pending before the National Assembly,” among others.
