Matawalle Blames New Naira Policy On Re-election Bid

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle stated on Thursday that his opposition to the new Naira policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) cost him his re-election bid at the March 18 governorship election in the state. According to him, some people within the Federal Government actively worked against him in the just concluded elections.

Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Alex Otti, has been declared the winner of the Abia State governorship election 96 hours after electorates had cast their vote on Saturday, March 18 2023. The LP candidate who polled 175,467 votes defeated Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP).

2023 General Elections: INEC Announces Voting Procedure

In preparation for the upcoming general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed the voting procedure for the elections. This disclosure was contained in a post released on INEC’s verified Twitter handle on Sunday, where it stated that voting starts at 8:30 am. According to the Twitter post, eligible voters are expected to present their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) for accreditation using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
