Eleven people were confirmed killed by unknown gunmen along Rim, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau state on Tuesday night. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Plateau State Command, Terna Tyopev who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Jos stated that the victims were returning to their various homes from a village market in Makera when the incident occurred.


According to him “Eleven people who were returning from a weekly village market of Makera were shot dead at about 7:30 p.m., four others are injured. No arrest yet, but investigation are ongoing, and we shall definitely get to the roots of this.”


Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, residents claimed that Fulani gunmen may have masterminded the attack. Last week, two people were killed in similar attack in Jol, throwing the whole local government in disarray.


Meanwhile, the Police have assured that they would apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice.
