L’Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt, the world’s richest woman, has died at the age of 94, her family said. Mrs Liliane Bettencourt passed away in the early hours of Thursday at home. Her daughter Francoise Bettencourt Meyers said in a statement. “My mother left peacefully.” Bettencourt ranked as the 14th richest person in the world, according to Forbes magazine, which estimated her net worth in March at $39.5 billion (33 billion euros).

The U.S. military flew advanced bombers and stealth jets over the Korean Peninsula and near Japan in drills with South Korean and Japanese warplanes on Monday, days after North Korea fired a missile over Japan. The United States often sends powerful military aircraft in a show of force in times of heightened animosities with North Korea. The North launched its latest missile as it protested against tough new U.N. sanctions over its sixth nuclear test on Sept. 3.

Three countries have been added to the United States' travel ban list to include citizens from Chad, Venezuela and North Korea. The new restrictions follow a decision by the White House about how countries are dealing with terrorists. The new measures will come into force on 18 October.
