Donald Trump's son-in-law and Senior Presidential Adviser, Jared Kushner has been accused of using his private email to carry out official White House business. According to Politico, his lawyer, Abbe Lowell had disclosed that multiple of emails were exchanged between Kushner and other White House officials on issues relating to media coverage and event planning. He, however, said the email was not used to share classified materials.
"Mr Kushner uses his White House email address to conduct White House business. Fewer than a hundred emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account."
"These usually forwarded news articles or political commentary and most often occurred when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal, rather than his White House, address."
The email scandal is generating controversy because Trump had criticized Hillary Clinton for using her private emails to carry out official business transaction. CNN reports that during the presidential election campaign "the president frequently encouraged crowds at rallies to chant "lock her up", and vowed to imprison Mrs Clinton over concerns she may have mishandled classified information.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the matter was closed without charges.
