Nollywood movie director and stunts specialist, Ifeanyi Onyeabor died on Friday while shooting a film in Jos, Plateau State, Premium Times reports.In a statement, SIC Entertainment Production Nigeria Limited, a company he co-owned with his partner, Steve James, confirmed his death.
The company stated that Onyeabor was a hard working curator who went to extreme lengths to achieve perfection in his craft, adding that he loved making movies, his fans but avoided the spotlight.
’’Onyeabor, will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your movie will keep your memory alive.
’’We would like to thank you for the support and the loving words about our brother, director. We are so grateful for everyone who loved Onyeabor’s movie’s and have precious memories of his movies. May his gentle soul rest in peace.’’
Some of his movies include Holy Diamond, Darkest Knight, Kukan Kurcia, One Good Turn, Pretty Woman, 5 Apostles, among others.
He was nominated for Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Director in 2006 for My Mother's Heart, 2008 for his movie New Jerusalem, and 2009 for 5 Apostles.
Meanwhile fans and colleagues have taken to social media to pay tribute to the director.
