London-based magazine, The Economist has written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, disowning a damning report purportedly written by it about his administration. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adeshina made this known to newsmen in a statement issued on Thursday. Adeshina said the letter, dated January 18 was written and signed by Rosenthal, the Africa Editor of the Magazine.
He quoted the letter as saying;
“It has come to my attention that an article has been circulating on social media and been published on various websites that purports to have been written or published by The Economist. The article with the headline ‘The Unprecedented Level of Patience Shown to Buhari’ was not written nor published by The Economist. Any claims connecting it to The Economist are false,” he wrote.
The statement appealed to Nigerians to be weary of the sources of some reports, as they may be skewed by politicians for political capital.
Recall that the purported report had claimed that Nigerians have shown unprecedented level of patience with the Buhari administration in the face of non-performance.
