Former Vice president Atiku Abubakar, the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general election has broke silence on the ongoing feud within the party. The main opposition party has been in turbulence since the conduct of the party's presidential primary election and has set the big wigs of the party in disarray and bickering, especially with the emergence of the Delta state Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as the running mate to Atiku. The tension generated by the outcome of the selection process has continued to place the party in confusion with some section of the party members calling for the resignation of the party chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.

Accordingly, it was glaring that all was not well in the party which led to only two out of the 13 governors of the party is present when the National Working Committee (NWC) inaugurated the Osun governorship campaign council on Wednesday.

Governor Nyesome Wike of Rivers state has been making statements venting his anger when he could not make it to the vice president slot, similarly, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state yesterday while on National TV said he was waiting for God to direct him to sup[port Atiku.

However, commenting on the development today, Atiku disclosed that his party was making everything possible to seal any crack that will threaten the unity of the party.

In a tweet today Thursday, Atiku wrote, “The Peoples Democratic Party will remain united. Focus on our actions. We are taking action to address the feelings of all party members. The unity in our community is my priority. Our resolve to unify Nigeria starts in our party and moves to the community, then on to society.”

“Every Governor, Legislator, and other elected officials produced by our party, and party members and loyalists, are much loved and respected by me. When they speak, I listen. I do not only listen. Appropriate actions have been taken, are being taken, and will continue to be advanced,”.
