Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has rubbished reports claiming that he has secretly defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in order to realize his ambition of winning the Presidential election. The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made this known in a statement issued by his media aide Paul Ibe on Friday, after members of Concerned Citizens for Atiku paid him a visit.
Reacting to calls by Nigerians for the former Vice President to return to the PDP, Ibe said the people are only expressing themselves and reserve the right to do so. He however said he still remains a strong member of the APC.
“Well, groups are free, like individuals are free to express their positions, it’s a country of law and there is freedom of expression as enshrined in our constitution. Having said that, I probably would also remind that his Excellency belongs to a political party as we speak.”
