The leadership of Anglican Communion has warned members and residents in the South East not to heed the sit-at-home order issued by IPOB and MASSOB to commemorate Biafra Day Celebration.
The Archbishop of Enugu Province, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma made the declaration at the 2017 Democracy Day celebration in Enugu on Monday. He said, "let me first of all state the position of the clergy on the sit-at-home declaration by IPOB and MASSOB. We are not in support of the call. We advise all to ignore it and go about their legitimate businesses."
The call from the Church is coming after security agencies had warned Biafra agitation groups not to force people to adhere to their sit-at-home order on 30th May, 2017, to mark Biafra Day remembrance, stressing that anyone caught fomenting trouble would be dealt with accordingly.
The statement also admonished residents to go about their lawful duties without fear or hindrance.
