The All Progressive Congress (APC) party has announced that it is set to commence a nationwide registration for its members two years after they conducted the last one in 2018. The Caretaker of the Convention Planning Committee of the party who is also a Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni disclosed this today when he received the material for the exercise.
While taking over the party affairs officially at the party secretariat, Governor Buni was in the company of his Jigawa State counterpart, Governor Abubakar Badaru, and Senator John James Akpanudodehe among other senior party officials.
According to him, the membership registration, update, and revalidation exercise will be conducted across the country’s 119,973 polling Units and the 57,000 voting points.
In his statement, “As you can see, we just took delivery of the first consignment of the registration materials for the exercise that will soon commence across the country. We have over 119, 000 polling units and 57, 000 Voting Points across the country.
Buni told the gathering that, this is the membership register and we have the personal information slip that goes with the register as well. Like I said we have just taken the first delivery and after taking all the stocks then we will unveil the date, the timetable for the registration across the country. We are going to register, revalidate our existing membership register across the country”,
He explained that the party membership registration, update, and the revalidation exercise to achieve the desired reform set by the Buni led the CECPC committee and the quest to expand its supporters base.
The spokesperson of the party, Yekini Nabena said that the party will target a wider coverage from across both rural and urban centers as well as the Diasporas.
The party had in August 2018 conducted a similar exercise as part of its strategy to increase its membership ahead of the 2019 general election.
