As the November, 2019 Governorship election draws close in Kogi state, all seems not to be well with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state as over five hundred (500) members of the party in Kabba, Bunu Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State dumped it for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Receiving the decampees, the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Kolawole, commended the defectors for their decision to team up with the APC ‘at this critical period’ noting that another batch of about one thousand (1,000) PDP members would soon join the party in the weeks ahead.

The Speaker was quoted saying “Today, we have over 500 people defecting in just one ward which is Okebukun. Yesterday, more than 500 defected from PDP to APC in Odo-Ape ward. Now, I have just been invited to welcome another set of defectors in Ole-Okofin ward. Before the week runs out, in my own ward, I am moving no fewer than 1,000 PDP members to APC. As far as I’m concerned, we are comfortable".

Also, speaking on behalf of the defectors, Nathaniel Taiwo, a former chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Council and former member of the state House of Assembly disclosed that, Governor Yahaya Bello's development drive was commendable. He stressed that the chances of the Governor in the Local Government Area (LGA) and Kogi West Senatorial district as a whole in the forthcoming election were very bright.
