On Tuesday, the Nigerian Army and their Cameroonian counterparts held a bilateral talk on how to effectively address the menace of Boko Haram around the border. The Nation Newspaper reported that the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru made the disclosure after the Cameroonian military personnel visited the Military Command and Control Centre (MCCC) in Maiduguri, Borno state capital.
According to him, “The bilateral meeting between officials of the Nigerian military and that of Cameroon is to discuss how to end insurgency on our borders. The meeting involves security officials of Nigeria and Cameroon on how to raise the counter-insurgency efforts on our borders”
The Commander stated that already, modalities for commencement of joint border operations around Borno South-Eastern region bordering Cameroon have been concluded.
Speaking, the leader of the Cameroonian delegation, Brig. Gen Valere Nka commended the Nigerian Military for decimating the sect and expressed delight over the decision of both countries to work together to end terrorism and insurgency in the region.
