The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP, yesterday, approved December 9 for the party’s national convention at Eagle square, Abuja. Addressing newsmen last night at the end of the meeting in Abuja, which ‎lasted for over seven hours, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said the party had resolved to investigate the issues in Ekiti so as to retain the state in 2018.

The Senate caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has met in Abuja to screen aspirants for the party’s chairmanship position, barely six weeks to the national convention.

Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio who led the caucus said the effort is to ensure that the PDP gets the convention right and avoid a repeat of past mistakes.

Seventeen States that make up the southern part of Nigeria have affirmed their commitment to national unity. They called for true federalism that would lead to devolution of powers to federating units. Speaking after the Southern Governors Summit, held at the Lagos House, Ikeja, the Governors in their communiqué, read by the host, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, said there was need for a united and indivisible Nigeria as well infrastructure development.

The Presidency has said that contrary to some reports President Muhammadu Buhari followed due process in ordering the immediate disengagement of the former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdulrasheed Maina, from the civil service, Channels television reports.

Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa state, has written a letter to members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to express his interest in the party’s presidential ticket in the 2019 general election. Lamido, in the letter dated October 22, shared some of his thoughts and concerns about PDP and Nigeria.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied involvement in the reinstatement of Mr Abdulrasheed Maina into the Federal Civil Service.

DSS in a statement on Monday said it is not investigating Maina nor handling any matter connected him and that there was no correspondence between the DSS and the Head of Service with respect to Maina.
