President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to join other heads of states and governments at Addis Ababa in Ethiopia on Friday, to participate in the 30th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU).

The President, who is to speak on “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation,” was also engaged by the AU during the last session to discuss on anti-corruption in Africa.

Apart from anti-corruption, other issues lined up for discussion will include; peace and security (transnational terrorism), institutional reforms of the continental body, free movement of persons, climate change, trade, aviation, education, gender and development.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that it remains the best option for Nigerians who are genuinely committed to the country’s progress and development.

Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary made this known in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

The statement was in reaction to a letter credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo titled: “The Way out: a clarion call for coalition for Nigeria movement”.

The former president had in the letter, alleged that the APC-led federal government had failed to live up to the expectations of Nigerians and had advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to re-contest the presidency in 2019.

The House of Representatives has commenced process on a law that would discourage medical tourism embarked by some public office holders.

The Bill sponsored by Rep. Sergius Ogun (Edo-PDP) seeks to prohibit international trips for medical treatment by public officers without approval and strengthen health institutions for efficient service delivery.

Ogun said on Wednesday that the bill comprising of 13 clauses was necessitated by the need to address the abuse of opportunities by public officers who seek medical treatment abroad.

The Governors who met with the President include, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State (PDP), Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State (PDP), Simeon Lalong of Plateau State (APC), Abdulaziz Yari of Kebbi State (APC), Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State (APC) and Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State (APC).

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has continued to trigger more controversy and trade of words across the country.

While the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) defended the President, Professor Itse Sagay believes the former President lacks the moral right to fault the president government.

The Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Anti-Corruption (PACAC) told Channels Television in a telephone interview the Buhari administration recorded more achievements than the eight-year rule of former President Obasanjo.

The Federal Government has responded to a strongly worded letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo urging President Buhari not to run for election in 2019. The ex-president had accused President Muhammadu Buhari of performing below expectation, advising him against running in 2019.
