Ekweremadu To Face Trial Over ‘Hidden Assets’ In UAE, UK, US

Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, will be charged before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) next week by the office of the attorney-general of the Federation (AGF), according to reports by TheCable.

He will be arraigned for “false declaration of assets” — the same charge slammed against Senate President Bukola Saraki whose case was adjourned indefinitely on Thursday by the tribunal.

International Women’s Day: Senate To Reintroduce 35% Affirmation Action Bill – Oduah

Former Minister of Aviation and current senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Stella Oduah, has disclosed that the Senate will soon reintroduce the 35 percent affirmative action bill for women.

Oduah who stated this on Thursday at a press conference in Abuja, as part of activities commemorating this year’s International Women’s Day noted that the bill would seek 35 percent for women as ministers and 20 percent for them as commissioners in states.

Ebonyi Gov Orders Arrests Of His Aides Over Communal Violence

In what came as a surprise, Dave Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state, ordered the arrest of government officials from two warring communities in Ikwo local government area of the state, on Thursday.

According to TheCable, Umahi gave the order in Abakaliki, the state capital, during an enlarged security meeting convened on the communal clash between Ekpomaka and Inyimegu communities of the area.

Akwe-Doma’s Death Is A Monumental Loss – Al-Makura

Governor Umaru Al-makura of Nasarawa State has described the death of the immediate past governor of the state, Mr Aliyu Akwe Doma as a monumental loss to the state and the entire country.

Senate Summons Buratai, IGP Over Dapchi Schoolgirls’ Abduction

The Senate has summoned the Chief of Army Staff, LT General Tukur Buratai and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over the abduction of 101 secondary schoolgirls in Dapchi, Yobe state.

They are both expected to appear before the Joint Committee on Security and Intelligence as well as Police Affairs to brief lawmakers on the actual situation of the kidnap, and their strategies to rescue the girls.

I Won’t Do Anything To Upstage Senate Leadership – Senator Adamu

The embattled senator representing Nasarawa West, Abdullahi Adamu, has denied allegations that he is plotting to remove the president of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, who he said is “like a son to me.”

On Thursday, Obinna Ogba, a senator representing Ebonyi central, laid before the Senate what he called “evidence” of Adamu’s plot to oust Saraki.
