A stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River state, Godwin Akpama may have dumped his party as he has commenced massive campaign for the reelection of the incumbent governor, Prof. Ben Ayade who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking to newsmen in Calabar, the state capital, Akpama said he had to mobilize for the Governor because his party was suffering huge internal crisis that might consumed it. He described party leaders in the state as unserious about producing the next governor in the state, stressing that the leaders were only pursuing their selfish interest.
“I have resolved to pitch my tent with Ayade despite the fact that Ayade is of the PDP. My decision to throw my weight behind Governor Ayade is because of the unseriousness, greed and self-aggrandisement exhibited by stakeholders of the APC in the state.
“Why would normal party men choose to polarise the party instead of working in one accord, unity and oneness, when they know that unity itself is strength? This is absolute madness," he added.
The Chieftain who claimed that there was no democracy in the party also accused other chieftains of secretly working for Ayade in order to be awarded juicy contracts.
