As election are won and lost, the Kano state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi has defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC). A source closed to the party chairman told Daily Nigeria that the party chairman chose to dump the PDP for a personal conviction, that he can no longer stay in the PDP.

Though others may see it as one of the outcomes of the Supreme Court Judgement, but it is not, he said.

He explained that, in the Kwankwasiyya movement, Bichi being the party chairman has long being relegated to the background, ostracised and rendered irrelevant in most decision making stages by activities, saying despite his effort to reposition the party, he was always seen as one of the fifth columnist in the party.

Bichi defection is coming at a time when the apex court has decided the faith of the party as loser after it dismissed the appeal of Mr Abba Kabir Yusuf of the PDP against the incumbent Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of the APC.

The presiding Judge, Justice Ngwuta while delivering Judgement on the duo dismissed the PDP and Yusuf’s appeal for lack of merit, saying the appeal were considered blanket in law, unproved and could not accommodate all infractions of the electoral process.
