There is a fresh move by Kano State Government to weaken the powers of Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II through the creation of another emirate in the state.
The move is believed to be championed by the State Government through the state assembly.
At the plenary of the Kano State House of Assembly held today, the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Kabiru Alhassan Rurum read a letter forwarded to the house for consideration by Ibrahim Salisu and others, requesting the house to start a move for creating four additional emirates in the state.
The proposed emirates are Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano. Creation of additional Emirates will no doubt truncate the powers of Sanusi ll.
It could be recalled that, Sanusi II was accused of openly supporting the opposition party during the gubernatorial election held in March 2019.
