A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state governor revealed that he is been doubtful that his party may still lose 2019 presidential election eventually it failed to address the grievances of some party stalwart especially on issues bordering its general campaign.

The governor who speak on condition of anonymity for fear of party victimisation disclosed that there is deep dissatisfaction in the PDP camp while election is just around the corner “time is running out”

According to Premium Times, who held interview with the governor, the governor disclosed all is not going well with the level of commitment been displayed by Top leaders of the party in terms of campaign and other preparation towards 2019.

The governor, being an influential member of the party revealed he has been contacted by some stakeholders of the party from across the country that have shown concern about the level of preparation of the party towards the presidential election.

He lamented in his statement, “It seems as if we (including Atiku) have conceded the election to Buhari even though the Nigerian people are behind us. The momentum has fallen; the possibility of victory is getting slimmer every day,”
He added that most party leaders are agitated by what they described as lack of consultation by Atiku Abubakar before taking some critical decision like appointment especially that of appointing his running mate and some campaign organisation.

Among the worried stakeholders the governors disclosed were; governor Dankwambo of Gombe State, Nyesome Wike of Rivers state, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state as well as former governor Makarfi and SuleLamido.

According to them they are concern not because they lose out during party primaries for Atiku, but for the progress of the party. He added that when Atiku picked Obi as running mate, he did not consult with anybody.

Meanwhile, he revealed that “The thinking among party leaders is that the running mate should have come from the South-west because you have from there people the likes of Tinubu (former Lagos State governor, and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who is politically-savvy and (Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who has integrity and credibility.

“Why will the people of the South-west abandon Tinubu and Osinbajo to vote PDP and Atiku?”

Moreso, “People believe that we should have zoned the vice president to south West instead vice presidency and make a commitment to hand over power to the South-east after an Atiku presidency.”

“Real leaders who have been committed to the PDP, people who did not leave the party during rain or shine, they have been sidelined by the newcomers. Why were leaders like Lamido and Makarfi not given central roles in the campaign?”
