The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has returned to Abuja, after a four-day official visit to Paris, France, to attend the African Finance Summit. The news was shared on Twitter on the Government of Nigeria official handle on Thursday, “President @MBuhari arrived Abuja after an official trip to Paris, France” the post read. Mr. President departed Abuja, for Paris, France on Sunday and met with French President, Emmanuel Macron, and other world leaders at the event in Paris.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo as the substantive Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). Mr. President also appointed Comrade Issa Aremu as Director of the National Institute for Labour Studies (NILS). Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President Mallam Garba Shehu announced the appointments on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday. “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo as the substantive Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). Before his appointment, Mallam Fikpo held the position in acting capacity,” the spokesman wrote.

Presidency Issues Stern Warnings To Coup Plotters

The Presidency has on Tuesday issued out a stern warning to individuals or groups plotting to undermine the democratically elected government in the country and the nation’s sovereignty will be dealt with decisively. The Presidency also said that it was ready to keep the country together even if it involves ruffling unruly feathers in the process. The Presidency in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, in Abuja, alleged that some persons have planned to hold an illegal conference where a vote of no confidence will be passed on President Muhammadu Buhari.

JUSUN Strike: Judiciary Workers Ignores CJN’s Appeal, Resolve To Continue Strike

The CJN had, after meeting with the labor minister, Chris Ngige, called on JUSUN to call off its strike. Mr. Muhammad, in a statement by his spokesperson, Ahuraka Isah, said his appeal for an end to the strike was informed by the briefing he received from Mr. Ngige, who leads the Federal Government’s negotiation team that engages with the leadership of the union.

Breaking: Former Minister ‘Mama Taraba’ Is Dead

A former Nigerian Minister Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan, popularly known as Mama Taraba is dead. Her associates confirmed that the 61-year-old politician died on Friday in Cairo, the Egyptian capital. Al-Hassan served as Women Affairs Minister under President Muhammadu Buhari's government. Al-Hassan is a former Minister of Women Affairs and a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Taraba North Senatorial District.

Breaking: INEC Announces Date For 2023 General Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the date for the forthcoming 2023 general elections. Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahmood Yakubu made the announcement on Wednesday during a one-day public hearing on the National Electoral Offences Commission (Establishment) Bill 2021, organized by the Senate Committee on INEC. Mahmood Yakubu said the general elections are one year, nine months, two weeks, and six days or 660 days from the date of the announcement, hence the need for preparation.
