The Federal Ministry of Education has stated that all Federal Government Colleges (FGCs) located in Abuja would be shut down following security threats on the Unity Colleges. Ben Goong, the Director of Press, Federal Ministry of Education confirmed this development to newsmen in Abuja on Monday.

He said the ministry had ordered the evacuation of students from the schools by latest Wednesday, 27 July, due to the rising insecurity and threat to the lives and wellbeing of the students therein.

Analysts speculate that this decision is aimed at preventing any attempt by terrorists and/or bandits from kidnapping students for ransom and promoting their agenda.

According to reports, FGC, Kwali, Abuja urged parents/guardians on Sunday, July 24 to pick up their children/wards from school on Monday, July 25 as a result of the directives from the federal ministry of education.
