Flooding Alert Raised, 28 States and FCT To Be Affected

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) announced that 8 upstream countries of the River Niger Basin are set to experience flooding from August and are likely to release water which will flow downstream the basin to where Nigeria is located.

Breaking; Court Frees IMN Leader Zakzaky, Wife

The Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kaduna has today Wednesday, set free the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife. During the eight hour ruling, Justice Gideon Kurada upheld the no-case submission filed by Zakzaky and his wife. The Kaduna State Government had in the last five years levelled a case of culpable homicide, unlawful assembly and disruption of public peace against the Shiite leader. Justice Gideon in his ruling held that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against the defendant.

Former COAS Buratai Meets With President Of Benin Republic

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), has met with the President of the French-speaking West African nation, Patrice Talon, on Tuesday during the official presentation of his letter of credence. Other ambassadors including those of Germany to Benin Republic, Michael Derus; as well as those of Ghana, Gabon, and Norway also presented their letters of credence to Talon. Buratai’s meeting with President Talon came in the course of the planned extradition of wanted Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, better known as Sunday Igboho, who was arrested in Cotonou on July 19, 2021 while he tried to catch a flight to Germany.

Another 28 kidnapped Bethel Baptist Students Regains Freedom

Another set of abducted Bethel Baptist college students, Damishi have been released days after two other students of the school were rescued by the police. The students were said to be found inside the Tsoho Gaya Forest in Chikun Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of Sunday. As of the time of reporting, it is unclear whether the bandits released them for ransom or they were rescued by security operatives or escaped by themselves.
