VP Osinbajo Demand Accountability Of Military Spending

In an effort to enforce transparency and accountability in government, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has demanded that the Military should account for its expenditure, especially on hardware that was acquired for defence. The Vice President stated this during a virtual presentation by the National Defence College Course 30 participants themed  “Defence Transformation and National Security: Strategic Options for Nigeria of the Future”. In recent times, Nigeria has been greeted with varying security challenges that are threatening all parts of the country including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, where the seat of power is located as casualties of terrorism were record not too long ago.

NSA: Armed Forces Developing New Strategies Against Insecurity

The Armed Forces of Nigeria has assured President Muhammadu Buhari that it was developing new strategies to deal with insecurity in Nigeria. This was disclosed on Thursday by Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd), the National Security Adviser (NSA) at the end of the National Security Council meeting which was presided over by President Buhari at the State House, Abuja.

INEC Reacts To Catholic Church Thug Invasion

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State, has debunked the new going round online claiming that thugs carted away voters' enrollment machines in Surulere. Meanwhile, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has reported that as of today 29th July 2022, some online media reported the invasion of St. Bridget Catholic Church at Ijesha by thugs to disrupt the ongoing INEC Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

Edo State Government Institutes Resident Identity Card

The Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki has revealed his plans for all residents of its state will be registered and given an identity card which will be linked with their Bank Verification Number (BVN) for proper identification. The purpose is to help curb the insecurity in the state. This information was made by Obaseki at the Edo North Council Meeting which took place in Auchi, on 28th July 2022 where he tasked the heads of local government administration to hold weekly security meetings where their activities will be reported to the state security council, noting that security had now become its administration priority, adding that the government was ready to deal decisively with insecurity in the state.
