Senators of the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has warned president Buhari over the failing of security in the country to either fix it in six weeks or face their wrath of impeachment. The minority leader of the Senate, Philip Aduda, PDP FCT, stated this while charting with newsmen shortly after they staged a walked-out during a plenary this afternoon at the hallowed chamber.
Aduda had during the plenary today proposed a motion concerning the raising insecurity in the country and giving Buhari an ultimatum to either face the monster or face impeachment from the lawmakers.
The Abuja lawmaker was ruled out by the Senate president, Ahmed Lawan when he tried moving the motion on insecurity before they staged the walk-out.
While speaking to a journalist, the lawmaker said, We agreed at the closed session that we should discuss the issue of insecurity in the country but the president of the senate frustrated our efforts to discuss it at plenary,”
Aduda explained that “We noted at the closed session as the minority caucus in the Senate, that the many resolutions passed on insecurity should be implemented.
“At the closed session we agreed that we must give the president an ultimatum, that if he failed to comply with our resolutions on how to tackle insecurity within six weeks, we would move impeachment proceedings against him, he added.
According to the Abuja Lawmaker, his expectation was that the Senate president will come out and brief the public on what transpired behind the closed-door meeting, but the Senate president did not do so, instead, Ahmed Lawan ruled out their point of order to discuss it.
