The United Nations International Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has called for a national parenting education program which would provide opportunities to parents to fully participate in the learning process of children under 3years. UNICEF Education Specialist, Swadchet Sankey made the call in Kano state, during a media dialogue on Early Childhood Development Education.

Six months after the Senate passed a bill for the establishment of the Maritime University in Delta State, it is yet to take off, despite the federal government’s promise to release the sum of two billion naira. The delay of the University, initially billed to begin in October this year, has been a sore area for Niger Deltans, who believe the institution will consolidate on the existing peace in the region.

The Nigerian government is planning to mentor 15 universities as dual mode universities that would operate both as conventional and digital learning Institutions. The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed said this in Abuja at a symposium organised by the Commission on policy and practice in open and distance learning.

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has made clarifications on its post-graduate courses following media reports on the inability of some students to graduate.

NOUN’s Director of Media and Publicity, Ibrahim Sheme, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, said that institution would not be swayed by such malicious stories.
