Calabar Carnival Kicks Off With Municipal Garden

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has inaugurated the `Calabar Municipal Garden’ which will serve as the 2017 Calabar Carnival village.

Chinua Achebe Recognised In Google Doodle

The late Nigerian author of literary masterpiece ‘Things Fall Apart’, Chinua Achebe, has been honoured in a Google Doodle, underscoring his status as a towering figure of 20th-century literature.

Students of all state-owned tertiary institutions across Osun state went on rampage on Monday to protest an alleged hike in the school fees by the government and the management of the institutions.

The students who trooped out in large numbers moved from the popular Olaiya busstop to the state Secretariat, Abeere where they blocked vehicular movement in and out of the premises.

Three of the students however, sustained injuries when the police attempted to disperse them by throwing tear gas in their direction.

The Executive Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose has berated President Muhammadu Buhari for backing Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-rufai's plan to sack about 21, 000 teachers. The teachers reportedly failed the competency test conducted by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
