A delegation of the Government of Sierra Leonean led by Presidential Adviser on Youth, Dr. Sheku G. Kamara, plans to visit some National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation camps in the country for an on-the-spot monitoring of activities during the on-going 2017 Batch ‘A’ Orientation course.
The group which paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, at the National Directorate Headquarters, Abuja, is in the country to understudy the scheme.
Describing Nigeria as Africa’s big brother, Kamara conveyed his government’s appreciation of the long existing cordial relationship between Nigeria and Sierra Leone, especially Nigeria's goodwill and support shown to his country both in war and peace times.
He highlighted Nigeria’s leading role during the Sierra Leonean civil war which helped in returning peace and stability to that country as well as its support during the outbreak of the Ebola disease.
The Director-General, informed the delegation that the NYSC had gathered invaluable experience in youth mobilization for national unity and development in its forty-four years of existence.
He expressed the scheme’s readiness to share its experience for the benefit of the sister African country.
