NAAT Suspends Nationwide Strike

The National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) has suspended its nationwide strike which commenced on March 21, 2022, with the view of pressurizing the Federal Government (FG) to concede to some of the Association’s demands. The nationwide strike by NAAT would be suspended for three months and is coming on the heels of the suspension of the strike by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of University and Allied Institutions (NASU).

SSANU, NASU Strike Suspended

The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Allied and Education Institutions (NASU) have suspended their two (2) months strike after a brief meeting with the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu in Abuja on Saturday. SSANU’s national president, Muhammed Ibrahim made this disclosure during an interview with pressmen. “Yes, we have suspended the strike for a period of two months” - He noted.

ASUU: I Will Hand Over All Federal Universities To State Government – Atiku

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has hinted that when elected as president in 2023, he will hand over all federal Universities to their respective state of residence. Atiku made this statement while delivering a speech at the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, and annual General conference organized in Lagos for the year 2022. The former vice president disclosed, that it has always been his wish to provide an enabling environment for both foreign and local investors so that people can grow naturally.

ASUU Strike: No-Work-No-Pay Is A Policy – FG Insist

The Federal government has reiterated its stance on the no-work-no-pay to the striking Academic Staff Union of the Nigerian Universities, ASUU, saying the Federal Government cannot be bullied into paying six months' salaries to ASUU after staying at home. The federal government insists that the policy is to serve as punishment to the academicians for grounding the educational institution in the country. The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu disclosed this while briefing a presidential communication team organized at the state House, Abuja.
