ASUU Strike: 2 Academic Unions Secure Registration

In a bid to end the ongoing nationwide strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), 2 academic unions, the Congress of National University Academics (CONUA) and the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) registered with the Federal Government (FG) on Tuesday. The Minister of Labor and Productivity, Chris Ngige presented certificates of registration to the two newly-established unions.

You Are Complicit In Corruption, Buhari Accused ASUU

President Muhammadu Buhari has accused the Academic Staff Union of Nigerian universities, ASUU of corrupt practice, saying the union is complicit in the corruption going on in tertiary education. The ASUU has been on industrial action since February 14, 2022, following a directive by the Federal Government demanding ASUU to join the integrated personnel payroll Information, IPPIS, a payment platform for all federal workers in Nigeria. Although ASUU claimed that joining IPPIS was not the only reason that they embarked on the strike but failure by the Federal Government to live up to its 2019 agreement with the union.

2022 SSCE: NECO Releases Results, 60.74% Candidates Pass

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results for the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). The results were announced on Thursday by the NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, adding that candidates should check NECO’s website for results.

FG To ASUU: We Will Accommodate You On IPPIS

The Federal Government (FG) through the Accountant General of the Federation, Sylvia Okolieaboh has urged the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that they would be accommodated on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). Okolieaboh made the plea on Thursday during the meeting between ASUU and the House of Representatives.

ASUU: FG Gives Matching Order To VCs To Resume Academic activities

The Federal Government through the National University Commission, NUC has directed University Vice Chancellors, VCs to immediately open schools and resume lectures for students. The matching order was issued through a letter signed by the Director, Finance and Account of the NUC, Sam Onazi, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, ES, of the Commission, professor Abubakar Rasheed. Vigil360 learned that the letter was made available to all VCs; pro-chancellors and chairmen of governing councils of all federal universities.
