The World Bank Group said on Monday that it is ready to work with the Nigerian government to revamp its power sector. This was disclosed by the World Bank’s Senior Communications Office in Nigeria, on Monday in Abuja, following a meeting with the International Finance Corporation.
Mr. Hafez Ghanem, the World Bank Vice President for Africa, was the representative of the World Bank in the meeting. How the World Bank Group could help Nigeria influence private and public investments for economic growth and development was the major topic of discussion during the gathering.
According to Ghanem “We have supported and seen success in transport, energy and power sectors using Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) models. The Azura power project is an example of how we have attracted private sector investment in the power sector. We are happy to work with the Government of Nigeria on power sector reforms, which will create a better environment to attract more private sector financing.”
