President Buhari Reappoints Pitan As MD/CEO OF BoI

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reappointment of Mr. Olukayode Pitan as the Managing Director (MD)/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bank of Industry (BoI) for another term of five years. Mallam Aliyu Dikko was also reappointed as the chairman of BoI. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha who stated that the new appointments would take effect from May 27, 2022.

Aviation Workers Suspend Planned Nationwide Strike, Sign Agreement With FG

Recall that the aviation workers under the aegis of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) and Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals (ANAP) had announced a nationwide strike action scheduled to kick-off on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, over poor welfare and unimplemented agreements with the Federal Government (FG).

President Buhari Approves Reconstitution Of NBC Board

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the reconstitution of the Governing Board of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), following the expiration of the tenure of the previous board. This was disclosed on Wednesday by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed. The minister said the board would serve for a term of three years as stipulated by the NBC Act.

FG Launches NG-CARES

The Federal Government has introduced the NG- CARES program with the World's Bank's Seven Hundred and fifty million dollars loan as a way to encourage Nigeria's economy as revealed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in the nation's capital on Thursday during the National Launch of the NG-CARES program.

Air Peace began direct flights into Niamey on Friday. Mr Stanley Olisa, the airline’s spokesman, stated in Lagos on Saturday that the inaugural flight was conducted with one of the airline’s Embraer 145 jets, from its subsidiary, Air Peace Hopper. He quoted the leader of the Air Peace delegation on the flight, Capt. Augustine Kamano, as saying that Niamey had always been on the airline’s radar. This is especially as the airline was poised to expand its footprints across the West African coast and interconnect different cities in the sub-region.

FG To Establish 18 Modular Refineries In Oil-Producing States

The Federal Government (FG) said it was in the process of establishing 3 modular refineries in 6 of the country’s major oil-producing states in the Niger Delta including Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Edo, Delta, and Cross River.

Reps To Investigate Condition of Airports, Airlines, Agencies

The House of Representatives has directed Committees on Aviation, Commerce and Human Rights to investigate the State of Nigerian airports. Others are the activities of airline operators and the coordinating/regulatory agencies in the aviation sector. The committee is expected to report back to the House within Eight weeks. This is sequel to the adoption of a motion on the need to investigate the poor performance and high charges by airlines operators in Nigeria moved by Hon. Simon Elisha Karu, ,at plenary on Wednesday. Hon. Karu noted that the 1999 Constitution (as amended) places aviation within the Legislative competence of the National Assembly and by virtue thereof, the National Assembly enacted the Civil Aviation (Repeal and Enactment) Act, 2006 and establishes the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) as the regulator of the aviation sector in Nigeria.

LSG Acquires High Speed Trains For Intra-State Movement

The Lagos State government has acquired two new Talgo 330kmph high-speed trains for the Red Line Metro project, as part of its efforts to improve traffic management and transportation within the state. The Train will commute passengers from Marina on the Lagos Island to Agbado on the mainland. The governor assured that the first phase of the Red Line would begin by the last quarter of 2022 or the first quarter of 2023, with a capacity of 500,000 passengers daily.

President Buhari Replaces Ifeanyi Ararume As NNPC Board Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the Board Management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Limited, presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina confirmed. The President appointed Margret Chuba Okadigbo as the new Chairperson of the board, replacing Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, while Mele Kolo Kyari remains the Chief Executive Officer and Umar I. Ajiya as the Chief Financial Officer of the company.
