The Presidency has disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari did not order the sacking of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) management. This was stated by the Senior Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, that the information was not true. The spokesperson said, “This cannot be true. Since the privatization of the Power Sector in 2013, the management of the successor companies has reverted to the new owners,”
He reiterated, therefore, that for this reason, the President cannot be dragged into managing a private entity such as the AEDC talk less of sacking their management. Mr Shehu added that it was a good initiative that the Minister whose name was linked to the matter has since distanced himself from the matter.
He said the president has assured the investors of the company that president Buhari cannot meddle in their business matter and has not sacked any management r what so ever and does not intend to interfere in the affairs of the AEDC it is a private company.
However, the presidency said though it is in support of the ongoing discussion that will reposition the power distribution company with their relevant stakeholders to resolve issues surrounding the company.
