Meta will launch a new AI chatbot for all Meta social apps besides Threads that will transform the way people interact on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. Speaking during the unveiling at Meta's Connect event on Wednesday night, the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the company, Mark Zuckerberg said most people today have not been able to enjoy AI firsthand despite its recent rise in popularity.
"We've talked about the Llama ecosystem of large language models, and today we unveiled our image generation model. Emu (short for Expressive Media Universe) uses your text prompts to generate high-quality, photorealistic images in just seconds. And thanks to Emu and technology from Llama 2, you can create your own custom AI stickers in chat to liven up conversations on the fly," Zuckerberg said.
Meta AI is an artificial intelligence assistant, which you can “interact with like a person”, and is also coming soon to Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses and Quest 3.
It is powered by a custom model that leverages technology from Llama 2 and Meta's latest large language model (LLM) research. In text-based chats, Meta AI has access to real-time information through its search partnership with Bing and offers a tool for image generation.
