Former Barcelona President, Joan Laporta has announced his signing of ongoing petition/vote of no confidence against the current President of the club, Josep Maria Bartomeu and his board. Laporta made the disclosure on his Twitter handle @JoanLaportaFCB. According to the Tweet which was posted in Spanish, the former President disclosed that he was the 15, 142 person to have signed the petition so far.

The tweet read;

"As a socio, I am the 15,142nd person to sign the #VotodeCensura2017...The club is owned by socios."


According to Marca, the petition was put forward by former Presidential candidate Agusti Benedito, who has set out a task of obtaining 16,750 signatures in order to potentially oust the current board. Before the encounter with Espanyol on Saturday, fans were seen signing the petition after being encouraged to make clear their support for the motion.


Agusti Benedito had announced on Friday that he had over 15, 000 members online willing to sign the motion. He expressed optimism that he would get the required 16, 570 to oust the current management of the club.


The board came under serious scrutiny following the exit of Neymar.
