The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the Governorship polls in Adamawa State.
According to the Returning Officer, Prof. Andrew Haruna, Fintiri polled 376,552 votes across the 44 local government areas, while the incumbent Governor, Umaru Jibrilla Bindow of the All Progressive Congress (APC) polled 336,386 votes.
Other Candidates, Sen. Abdul-Azeez Nyako of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who polled 113,237 votes and Emmanuel Bello of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) with 29,792 votes.
Haruna disclosed that the total number of registered voters was 1,973,083; accredited voters were 905,346; valid votes were 871; rejected votes were 27,790 while the total number of votes cast was 899,097.
Politics is not new to Fintiri as he served as the Speaker of Adamawa House of Assembly in 2014 and also served as Acting Governor, after Gov. Murtala Nyako’s impeachment.
