The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has finally reacted to media reports that he narrowly escaped a near-helicopter crash in Gwagwalada, Abuja on Thursday after attending a graduation ceremony. The Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande in a statement issued to newsmen and posted on his social media handles said, although the Vice President attended the referenced event by Chopper, it was decided, for technical reasons that he should not fly the chopper at the end of the ceremony.

He explained that the VP consequently drove back to the Presidential Villa.

His post reads

“VP Osinbajo attended the graduation ceremony of Nigeria Customs Senior Course in Gwagwalada today.

“On his way back, it was decided, for technical reasons, not to fly the chopper that had brought him to the venue. He drove back to the Presidential Villa & continued his schedule.”

A source at the venue of the event disclosed that the VP had attended the graduation ceremony of Senior Division Course 1/2018 participants at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, the Federal Capital Territory.

It was gathered that the chopper which had earlier brought the VP to the event made an emergency landing, with thick smoke permeating the environment, shortly after attempting to ascend.
