Edo 2024: Shaibu Eyes Obaseki Seat

Deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu has declared his interest in running for office of the Governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Shaibu, after enduring reprisal for months from His boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki, is now determined to succeed him next year.

Shaibu who officially launched his campaign office in Benin City on Monday 27th November 2023, disclosed that “After all the consultation we have made, we needed to now make the answer to our consultation known to our people. And the answer is clear: they have asked me to run,”

The 53-year-old politician hails from Edo North Senatorial District, the same district as the ex-governor of the state and current lawmaker representing the district in the 10th National Assembly, Adams Oshiomhole.
