The Federal Government (FG) has conferred the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) award on individuals and organizations from both the public and private sectors, for their high productivity and excellence. The award ceremony took place in Abuja on Thursday at the Banquet Hall, Aso Rock Villa to mark the 19th National Productivity Day.
Recipients of the award include the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; former Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chike Ihekweazu; Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Akin Abayomi and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu.
Others are Chairman, BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu; Chairman of Globacom, Mike Adenuga; Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema and Director General of the West Africa Health Organization (WAHO), Stanley Okolo.
Posthumous awards were conferred on Stella Adadevoh, who died from the Ebola Virus while quarantining patient zero, and Mr. Babatunde Lawal, who was the permanent secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, in the Office of the SGF until his demise.
Organizations shortlisted for the awards include the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Financial Derivatives Limited, and Crown Flour Mills.
According to reports, since the inception of the awards in 1991, a total of 382 individuals have been honored with the NPOM.
