There has been mixed feeling in the camp of, Asiwaji Bola Tinibu, the All Progressive Congress (APC), National leader, over the presidential ambition of, Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It is being speculated that Tinibu has the ambition of testing his popularity come 2023, however, he is yet to make his ambition known in spite of agitation in some quarters that the presidency in the APC should be zoned to the south west.
Monitoring of the political events has revealed supporters of the APC national leader has commence mobilization of persons and materials for the actualization of Tinibu’s ambition. Although, the former Governor of Lagos has repeatedly said the time is not yet ripe for discussing zoning, however, his supporters have continued with their Tinibu project in the south-west Nigeria.
However, Bode George being a popular political figure of the south-west, and has already declared his ambition for the first seat, though from a different political party, there are indications that, Mr George aspiration following the floating of a political group which supposedly a platform to lunch Bode George project 2023.
Daily trust reported that there is an observed mixed feeling amongst the Tinibu camp over Mr George ambition being a Lagosian and from the south-west just like the Tinibu himself sharing a common interest though on different platform is being viewed with mixed feeling by the south westerners.
An APC stalwart said, they have no problem with Bode George ambition, but he has beaten their speculation. They expected Bode George to rally behind Tinibu being the most powerful political figure in the south-west who has influenced many government projects in the region and remain the strong force in the present administration.
However, another source from the PDP disclosed that Bode George project to be officially amplified by the end of the month, and their party is determine to tackle the issue with maturity which they believe will attract supporters to them.
A former organising secretary of the PDP in Lagos, Chief Mutiu Okunola, who had already defected to the APC spoke with Daily Trust yesterday on behalf of Tinubu 2023 project, opined that, he saw the aspiration of Bode George as good for agitation for power rotation to the south-west.
According to him, he was convinced that Bode George is just flying a kite and would eventually step down for Tinubu.
He stressed that “Bode George is an asset and not a threat. Tinubu is younger than Bode George, he has won Lagos before and he is still winning Lagos.
