Mr. Segun Awosanya, a Human Rights activist, has dismissed the demand for an apology and N3 billion damages claim by a member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, over call on his twitter handle for an investigation into 17 local and foreign bank accounts allegedly operated by the lawmaker.

Jibrin, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, had on Oct. 31 through his lawyer, gave Awosanya popularly known as Segalink 14 days to pay him N3 billion for damages over libellous and defamatory tweets. He also demanded that Awosanya publish a public apology on his twitter handle for seven days to serve as atonement for the tweets published on Oct. 17.

In his response, Awosanya, dismissed the demand by the lawmaker and described his N3 billion suit as an empty threat and urged him not to wait for the 14 days ultimatum before commencing his legal action.

He said Jibrin is encouraged to expedite his legal action, and act decisively as he intends to equally match his words with facts and action.

The activist maintained that, he is undaunted, unflinching and unfazed by Mr. Jibrin’s attempt to draw up colourless and nonexisting realities against him through malicious intent.” (NAN).
