The Senate Thursday, passed the much anticipated Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) after 17 year of consideration. The bill has been passed as the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB). The Bill which has gone through 5 sessions of the National Assembly beginning from the 4th Assembly which was inaugurated in 1999 under President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Acting President Yemi Osibanjo has told usually very religious Nigerians that the country will not work only by praying and fasting but mainly by hardwork. The Defence Headquarters have clarified media reports that some compromised Military Officers may be colluding with opposition politicians to illegally oust President Muhammadu Buhari administration by staging a coup. Ibe Kachikwu - Minister of State for Petroleum

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has reiterated that Nigeria will be self-sufficient in the refining of petroleum products by 2019. The minister, who spoke as a guest on BBC Hard Talk program in London on Monday, also disclosed that he recently signed an agreement with the international oil giant, Agip, for the firm to build a refinery in Nigeria.
